Google Cloud opens a new region in Santiago

In June 2020, Google announced that a new Cloud region would arrive in Chile, accelerating and giving much more confidence to business operations and organizations in Latin America as a whole.

Well, this day has arrived \o/

The new Santiago Cloud Region is now a reality and will bring a series of benefits such as:

  • High-performance Google Cloud services with low latency;
  • Enabling organizations to completely transform and modernize their IT infrastructure, leveraging the most advanced cloud platform in the industry;
  • Ability to deploy innovative solutions that require zero latency;
  • Seamless technology infrastructure at every layer.

In addition, this region offers a set of regional product offerings that include Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, Cloud Spanner, Cloud Bigtable, and BigQuery.

Another novelty is that it is considered one of the regions with the highest percentage of carbon-free energy. The energy used is solar and comes directly from the Atacama desert, where the Acciona El Romero photovoltaic plant is located.

This new region joins the other 29 existing ones on the planet and is the second in Latin America. We are happy to note that this advancement will certainly drive digital transformation in our region.
